Martha's Vineyard Regional Transit Authority
Fares & Passes
One-Way Fares:

Fares are $1.00 per town, each way,  including town of origin.

VTA buses are equipped with electronic fareboxes. Exact fare is strongly suggested.  Please do not ask the driver for change, as they are not permitted to handle fares.  No cash is returned from the farebox.  Change is given in the form of stored value cards for future ride usage ONLY and is not redeemable for cash.  Fares are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Persons with disabilities and senior citizens (age 65 and older) are eligible for a 50% discount on all fares and passes when requested.

Children (age 6 and under) ride for free, when accompanied by an adult.

If paying with cash, please take a moment to consider buying a pass.  Passes are the most cost-effective and easy way to ride the VTA.

Where to Buy a Pass:
One day, three day and seven day passes may be purchased on the bus, at the Steamship Authority Terminals, or from Ticket Sellers at the Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven stops from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Annual passes and 31 day passes can be purchased at the VTA Operations Center in the Airport Business Park or the Edgartown Visitors Center.

Please note that VTA passes are good for calendar days ONLY, beginning the first time it's validated.  For example, if you purchase a Three Day Pass and use it on Friday at 2:00pm, it will be good for that day (Friday), Saturday & Sunday.  The same holds true for 1,3,7, and 31 day passes.

The VTA is not responsible for lost or stolen passes.
