Meeting Minutes
September 25, 2008

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board met on Thursday September 25, 2008 at 9:30 AM in the offices of the Transit Authority located at 11 A Street in Edgartown.  Present were Alice Butler (Oak Bluffs), Len Jason (Chilmark), John Alley (West Tisbury), Connie Teixeira (Tisbury), Ken Johnson (Edgartown),  June Manning (Aquinnah), Angela Grant, Administrator (VTA), Darren Morris (TCI) and Lois Craine (VTA).
The meeting was called to order at 9:35AM.

Approval of Minutes:
Mr. Alley made a motion to approve the minutes of April 2, 2008 with one correction.  Ms. Teixeira seconded.  M/s/c
Updates and Reports:
TCI
Mr. Morris described efforts to recruit H2B visa holders already in the U.S. for next summer in conjunction with ski resorts which have the opposite busy season.
Ridership:
Ms. Grant reported strong ridership with the exception of the Oak Bluffs In Town Service.
Old Business:
Oak Bluffs In Town Service
Ms. Grant advised the Board that the new Oak Bluffs In Town service picked up no passengers at the Oak Bluffs School parking lot, the primary focus of the route, all season.  Island Transport failed to provide an operator on a regular basis for the afternoon portion of this split route as agreed.  Afternoons were covered only about 60% of the time.  Discussion followed.
West Tisbury Town Hall
Ms. Grant reported that she is hopeful that the Agricultural Society will agree to the VTA’s use of a portion of their land as requested for next season.  Discussion followed.
New Business:
Ms Grant reported an increase in Federal funding to $550,000 and the  hope the Commonwealth will soon address the uneven distribution of funds between urban and rural RTAs in order to fund the growing demand for VTA service year round .

The meeting adjourned at 10:38 AM.
